Come Live Over Here
Pittsburgh is Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh's nature is still in the making, or else in the breaking, depending upon your point of view.
Real New Colonist
A great site on urban living, http://www.NewColonist.Com, organized in part by Eric Miller, provides some of the inspiration of these gatherings. Efforts and activities flowing here, with some hoped for connection to the main site, NewColonist.Com. Please visit and subscribe to those mailing lists.

Great Letter to the Editor
Infrastructure DecayThis broken sewer cover is at the corner of 12th Street and Bradish on the South Side. The photo was taken from the front door of Rauterkus.com, so it is easy to see and remember. The Water & Sewer Authority have the responsibility. Meanwhile, a city garbage truck went over the corner to cause the break in early July, 2004. The blog mention shows two photos.
As more and more of this happens, people won't want to come and live here. And, people won't want to stay here either.
South Side Summer Street Spectacular
"Horrible"
The 2004 event, as quoted in the South Pittsburgh Reporter, "It's the worst thing that the South Side ever came up with, she said, citing the "nastiness, urine, and puke" of attendees.
Volunteers Reveal Steps on Slopes
The two images of BEFORE and AFTER the volunteers efforts. The South Side Slopes hosts a great Step Trek and utilize the network of neighborhood steps and sidewalks.

Volunteers can make a big impact upon our shared spaces and places. We need to do more as citizens and good neighbors to keep our city friendly and accessible. For too long, all the work in the city was done by union workers. With the budget crisis, more and more efforts are being handled by those among us who can contribute.
The Great Race has been NUKED by the Mayor. However the Great Replacement Race is to happen, without city workers and organized by volunteers.
The South Side Slopes hosts the Step Trek -- and it is NOT operated by city employees. Way to go.
Forbes: Pittsburgh is worst place to be single
Pittsburgh could be the best place to be single if you are a guy over the age of 65.
Pittsburgh is a wonderful place to be if you are married.
